Bilbao is the largest of the three cities in País Vasco and it maintains a beautiful historic quarter with a dominating gothic cathedral. the great architectural and infrastructure projects have been the driving force of the urban and economic regeneration of the city; the Bilbao Guggenheim museum, The Euskalduna Conference and Music Centre, Norman Foster’s underground. one of the most famous attractions in Bilbao is the Guggenheim Museum, whose structure is considered one of the most important pieces of contemporary architecture. the famous bridge Zubizri is located next to the museum, designed by architect Santiago Calatrava.

For today you will have tickets for the opera in the Euskalduna Conference and Music Centre. Inaugurated on February 19th 1999, the Euskalduna conference centre and concert hall is a very unique building; one of the flagships of the new Bilbao of the 21st century. designed by architects Federico Soriano and Dolores Palacios as a vessel permanently under construction that stands in a dock on the site of the former Euskalduna shipyard. in 2001 the conference centre received the Enric Miralles award at the 6th biennial of Spanish architecture. it is a 53,000 m2 multi-purpose centre that stands in the heart of the city of Bilbao designed to host many different kinds of corporate, financial, institutional, social and cultural events. it is also the venue of the Bilbao opera season, a major event in Spain and Europe and home to the Bilbao symphony orchestra, a magnificent ensemble whose first concert dates back to 1922.

THE EUSKALDUNA RIGOLETTO

“Rigoletto” is a renowned opera by Giuseppe Verdi based on Victor Hugo’s play. It’s a story of passion, deceit, love, and vengeance. The jester Rigoletto fears for his daughter Gilda’s safety due to the promiscuous Duke of Mantua. In a particular production, the cast includes Amartuvshin Enkhbat as Rigoletto, Sabina Puértolas as Gilda, and Ismael Jordi as the Duke. The music is led by Daniel Oren, and the stage direction by Miguel del Arco, offering a contemporary take with symbolic elements. “Rigoletto” is a timeless and universally beloved opera.

LA BOHEME

“La Bohème” is a famous opera by Giacomo Puccini. The story is set in the Latin Quarter of Paris and revolves around the tragic love between young artists, particularly the seamstress Mimì and the poet Rodolfo. The opera is known for its beautiful music and engaging drama, with maestro Pedro Halffter leading the orchestra. The production is directed by the legendary baritone Leo Nucci, providing a traditional and realistic portrayal of 19th-century Paris.
